FAQs & Testimonials

Here are some frequently asked questions we get about our autism-friendly retreats. We are always here to answer any other questions you may have so please get in contact!

What public transport can I take to get to WilderMe?

Plymouth train station is our nearest main public transport hub with easy links around the UK. From there, you can take a short bus/taxi ride (Uber) to the Cremyll Ferry. There, you can take the 10 minute ferry ride over to the Mount Edgcumbe Arms pub where there is a regular bus that drives past the entrance to Maker Heights five minutes drive away where our glamping site is situated. Alternatively, we can provide you with the number for a local taxi company.

During an Autism-Friendly Retreat, do I have to socialise?

We do encourage all our guests to get to know each other to gain the most out of your holiday. However if you ever need some time alone, we will fully honour your decision and support you in any way we can. Making friends with like-minded people is a huge part of what we do here, but we recognised our guests' need for down time as well and want to make the experience as enriching and restorative as possible.

What if I get overwhelmed?

Our retreat leaders can cater to your needs and support you in finding ways to rest and reset. Oftentimes the best way is just taking some time to get cosy in your geodome, have a nap and take a rest. There is no judgement or pressure at WilderMe. The retreats are designed to adapt and accommodate your limits.

What’s the accommodation like?

We have six beautiful state-of-the-art geodesic domes that feature panoramic sea-view windows, comfy proper beds and soft fresh bed linen. Black out curtains ensure you have a peaceful night's sleep and thick duvets and pillows guarantee warmth and cosiness.

Are holiday itineraries fixed?

We do have set itineraries for our Autism-friendly holidays, however, if there's anything you really don't want to do then we will support you in finding something else you might like.

What’s staff support like on an Independent Adults Autism-Friendly Holiday?

We have two retreat leaders on hand for the activities but we do not offer 1-1 or overnight support. We have separate retreats for groups bringing their own support staff.

Who is the Independent Adults Autism-Friendly Holiday best suited for?

  • An autistic adult (18+)  who wants to travel independently, but not entirely alone

  • Looking for a calm, nature-based break

  • A solo traveller seeking a welcoming group

  • Curious to try new activities in a low-pressure environment

  • An adult who wants connection without pressure to socialise or mask

  • Wanting a supportive, nurturing environment

Not For: Party-goers who like busy holiday parks, loud entertainment etc.

Our Independent Retreats are not for people who require 1:1 / overnight support. We have separate retreats for groups who attend with support staff too.
